About Terrence Tyson
My name is Terrence Tyson. I’m a professional event photographer and commercial videographer based in Jacksonville, Florida, specializing in corporate events, brand activations, grand openings, and commercial productions.
It didn’t start that way.
Like a lot of photographers, my first camera came as a gift from a relative. Photography wasn’t an immediate passion — I only took one class in high school. But during college, I needed extra money, so I started shooting polaroids in the nightclubs of Daytona Beach, Florida. That was the beginning.
After that period, I made a deliberate shift to digital photography and never looked back. I committed to becoming a full-time photographer and explored every specialty imaginable — pets, weddings, children, portraits. But when I landed on event and commercial photography, everything clicked.
In May 2006, I was asked to join Ozone Magazine — a nationally distributed hip hop publication — as Senior Staff Photographer. Over the next four years, I documented the Southern hip hop music industry at the highest level.
That work earned me four Diamond Awards recognizing excellence in Southern hip hop photography, and gave me a professional foundation that most photographers never get.
When my time at Ozone ended in 2010, I didn’t look for another job. I launched terrencetyson.com on January 1st, 2010, and started building something of my own.
Since then, the client list has grown to include some of the most recognized names in entertainment, sports, and business. A Disney Store grand opening in Jacksonville. A 14-month commercial videography contract with Athena Security, producing marketing content to showcase their AI-driven concealed weapon detection and visitor management systems. Corporate events and brand activations for NASCAR, BET Networks, Def Jam Recordings, Atlantic Records, and Psycho Bunny Clothing, among others.
The challenges grew. I grew alongside them.
More than 20 years after picking up that first camera, I still approach every event the same way — like it’s the one that matters most. Because for my clients, it is.
I appreciate you considering me for your next project. When you’re ready, I’d love to hear about it.
